Here’s to Fall

I hope everyone had a great summer. There’s a lot to enjoy in life when we take the time to just “be” and feel the earth turn. This summer was an interesting one for us - with a lot of changes in the family. In need of peace, I decided to reinvest more time in other interests. This included expanding the garden by trying out new methods like interspersed gardening and new varieties of plants.

Now that fall is upon us and it’s colder and often wet, I feel the pull back to the whirring of a sewing machine and creation of new things. I’ve had my mind on what new projects to bring to this site. One thing that I seem to keep coming back to is a simple dog suit block. These really form the basis for bringing us fully into fall, Halloween (costumes!!) and then later into the winter months where our pups may need a little help staying warm. I cut this one from a simple paper pattern that I started when Lulu (pictured) was just a puppy. She was going in for surgery and we needed some way to keep her ever wiggling body clean. We found early on that the surgical suits/dog shirts on the market were too tight on her back, so customizing was really the way to go here. These are really good ways to eat up a spare yard of knit fabric (less than a yard can do). What a sweet little face…Stay tuned for more projects to come.
