Welcome!

We were awoken an early January morning by the sound of my German Shepherd, Addix, struggling. She was diagnosed with an extremely rare spinal cancer two years ago. Two years ago, we were told that she had a month to live, so we took her home to keep her as comfortable as we could for as long as we could.

On this morning, our beautiful friend was now completely unable to move her back feet and wouldn’t relieve herself outside. We rushed her to the emergency vet and waited for several long, excruciating hours. We were told several things: she would never walk again, her urine was impacted and two vets advised us to put her down. We took her home to make her comfortable.

This website adventure comes from the experience and tools I’ve created to support this wonderful friend. It wasn’t easy. Really - the first few days, she needed support to eat, relieve herself and to be turned so she wouldn’t develop sores. I could barely carry my 80lb friend who needed so much help. 5 months later she regained so much - walking, keeping lovingly still while I carried her down the stairs and eating on her own. My hope is that this path I’ve travelled helps someone walking a similar path. Either way, you are welcome here.
